MAKE BANK is a social project pulling the creative industries together to tackle the decline in arts education and the lack of financial, material and educational resources required to pursue creative study. Founded by Kirsty Thomas of Tom Pigeon, herself a former teacher, its purpose is to inspire and support those from marginalised backgrounds who want to study art and design. It will do this by working directly with teachers and providing high quality material kits and inspiring, easy to access resources for school children.
Kirsty has invited some of the UK’s most exciting artists, illustrators and designers to join the MAKE BANK Print Project to directly fund material kits and online support projects. This will have its official launch at designjunction during London Design Festival 2019.
As soon as Kirsty told us about her idea for this project we jumped at the chance to champion such a worthwhile endeavour, one that will offer a practical solution and inspiration for young teenagers who want to follow creative careers. We are supporting Kirsty to amplify the work of MAKE BANK and spread the message of what it can do, because we also passionately believe that every child has the right to pursue an education and a career they choose.
